When food gets spoiled in our house, we find various sustainable ways to dispose of it, so that it does not spread and cause a nuisance and harm the environment. At times when possible, spoiled food is used as a manure in the garden.
If the food is spoiled, such that it is not fit for human consumption, but can be consumed by other organisms, then it can be used as a food to feed those organisms. Often the spoiled food is used as a medium to grow, study and research about various micro-organisms.
