  • In a democratic country, people cast their vote to elect a representative. They take the decision on behalf of the people. Here, people have the right to participate in the decision making process of the government
  • People express their views in various ways like dharnas, rallies, strikes and signature campaign
  • The key idea of the democratic government is its commitment to equality and justice
  • Conflicts occurs when people of different religions, cultures or economic background do not get along with each other and they use violent measures to set their conflicts. Government helps people in resolving the conflict
  • Active citizenship means being aware of one’s rights and responsibilities as a citizen, the responsibility of a citizen does not end with election of government. Citizen should be active and vigilant so that government does not become unresponsive and unaccountable
  • Mass media informs people of various government policies and also reports public opinion on these policies
  • Police is responsible to maintain peace and security in society
