In the geographical studies and research works,maps and globes are used for almost same purpose.

Both are used for watching and locating different places on the earth.

But maps are more preferable because of it's portability,map is just a piece of paper which we can carry to anywhere,but globes are large spherical solid object which is very difficult to carry around.
