Vitamins are needed for natural functioning of our body.They help in keeping our eye, bones,teeth and gums healthy.There are thirteen types of vitamins, each of them which has a specific has its function in our body. There are two types of vitamins- Fat soluble and water soluble. Vitamin A,D,E and K are fat soluble vitamins .These can be stored in our body in the fat tissues. Our body preparws vitamin D in the presence of sunlight. Vitamin B1,B2,B3,B6,B12(together make vitamin B complex)and vitamin C cannot be stored in our body and vitamin C are water soluble substances. Since soluble substances cannot be stored in our body theseneed to be regularly supplied through food.

The vitamins are natural and essential nutrients, required in small quantities and play a major role in growth and development, repair and healing wounds, maintaining healthy bones and tissues, for the proper functioning of an immune system, and other biological functions. These essential organic compounds have diverse biochemical functions.
