All the organisms do not need the same kind of food. They have their different food requirements. Some organisms can prepare their own food where as other depend on other organisms for their food .Different organisms need different types of food .Based on the way they acquire the food they can be classified as: Producers: Green plants have chlorophyll So they can prepare their own food. Therefore they are called producers or autotrophs. Consumer's: Organisms that depend on other for their food are called consumers. Based on their food requirements they can be classified as: 1) Herbivores: animals that can eat plant and plant products are called herbivores. 2) Carnivores: Animals that eat other animals are called Carnivores. 3) Omnivores: animals which eat both plants and animals are Omnivores.
