Describe briefly about animal husbandry? (3) Ans. a. Animal husbandry is the branch of agriculture concerned with animals that are raised for meat, fibre, milk, eggs, or other products. b. It includes day-to-day care, selective breeding and the raising of livestock, like plants, animals also provide us with large variety of food items for which they are reared domestically or commercially. c. They are provided with proper food, shelter and care, this is called animal husbandry. 7. Why do you think removal of weeds is essential? Write any one method to control weeds. (2 + 1) Ans. Removal of weeds is essential because they compete with the crops for water, nutrients and other basic necessities which affects the growth and results in low yield of crops. The supply of water to crops at appropriate intervals is called irrigation. The time and frequency of irrigation varies from crop to crop, soil to soil and season to season. If a handful of seeds are given to you, how will you separate healthy seeds from damaged ones? (2) Ans. Take a beaker half filled with water and put some seeds into it and stir well, wait for some time. You will observe that some seeds sink in water while some seeds float on water, damaged seeds become hollow and lighter and thus they float on water.
