Braille is a tactile reading and writing system used by blind and visually impaired people who cannot access print materials.
Braille is not a language. It is a code by which all languages may be written and read.
Louis Braille, who was blinded at the age of three, invented the system in 1824 while a student at the Institution Nationale des Jeunes Aveugles (National Institute for Blind Children), Paris.
