The commutative property states that the numbers on which we operate can be moved or swapped from their position without making any difference to the answer. The property holds for Addition and Multiplication, but not for subtraction and division. Addition. We learned that the commutative property of addition tells us numbers can be added in any order and you will still get the same answer. The formula for this property is a + b = b + a. For example, adding 1 + 2 or 2 + 1 will give us the same answer according to the commutative property of addition.
