A carrier is a person or an animal that is infected with a disease and so can make other people or animals ill. A carrier network is the proprietary network infrastructure belonging to a telecommunications service provider such as Verizon, AT&T or Sprint. Telecom carriers are authorized by regulatory agencies to operate telecommunications systems. An example of a carrier is a postal worker who delivers mail. An example of a carrier is a cat carrier that you would use to take your cat to the vet. An example of a carrier is the company such as AT&T that provides your telephone service.
