Under Lord Hastings 1813 to 1823 a new policy called paramountcy was initiated Britishers declared themselves as Supreme in its administration than that of Indian states in order to protect its interest it was justified in annexing any Indian kingdom do there was many challenges but this policy was declared as partially successful
