Cells are the basic units of life. All living things (plants and animals) are made up of cells. They have different shapes and sizes for different organisms. Most of the cells are very small and cannot be seen with naked eye. They can only be seen with the help of a microscope.
Cells in the living organisms are complex living structures unlike non-living bricks. The egg of a hen represents a single cell and is big enough to be seen by the unaided eye.
