Tuberculosis (T.B.) – T.B. is an infectious disease which is communicated from one person to another directly or indirectly. It is caused by bacterium called Mycobacterium tuberculosis. T.B. can affect all parts of the body such as lungs, lymph glands, bones, intestine etc. Tuberculosis which enters through the nose and affects the lungs. The bacteria usually attack the lungs. But TB bacteria can attack any part of the body such as the kidney, spine, and brain. If not treated properly, TB disease can be fatal. TB disease was once the leading cause of death in the United States.
