Rainwater harvesting is the accumulation and storage of rainwater for reuse on-site than allowing it to run off. Rainwater can be collected from rivers or roofs. The harvested water can also be used as drinking water, longer-term storage, and for other purposes such as groundwater recharge. It is essential to stop the decline in groundwater levels, arrest sea-water ingress, it prevent sea-water from moving landward, and conserve surface water run-off during the rainy season.
