A number is a perfect square (or a square number) if its square root is an integer; that is to say, it is the product of an integer with itself. Here, the square root of 99 is about 9.950. Thus, the square root of 99 is not an integer, and therefore 99 is not a square number. 99 is a composite number because it has factors other than itself and one. For a number to be divisible by 99, the given number has to be divisible by 9 and 11. For a number to be divisible by 99, the given number has to be divisible by 9 and 11, both of which are simple tests. Divisible by 9 test. If sum of digits is divisible by 9 then the number is divisible by 9.
