Roughage is the fibrous matter in food which cannot be digested. It helps in digestion and prevents constipation. It is found in fruits, vegetables and wholemeal flour products. Fiber, or roughage, is found in virtually all plant foods, including whole grains, fruits, vegetables, beans, nuts, and seeds. However, some of these foods are naturally higher in roughage than others.
