Bharat was the son of Shakuntala and Dushmant. He is also considered to be the ancestor of the Pandavas/Kauravas and the founder of the Bhārata dynasty. ... He was first emperor of india according to Mahabharata Vedic texts. The name India is derived from the river Sindhu which flows in the north west of the country.
