Pollutants that deplete the ozone layer are chlorofluorocarbons (CFC), nitrogen oxides and hydrocarbons. CFC is used in air conditioners and refrigeration, as cleaning solvents, aerosol propellants, in foam insulation and in certain fire extinquishers. These pollutants react with ozone molecules and disintegrate them.
