The East India company had insisted Mir Qasim as the Nawab of Bengal and wanted him to grant the British trade concessions and other privilege. Under the political domination of the company the Nawab had to maintain an image of sovereignty in front of his people. this the British officials failed to understand and pushed more on trade concessions which made Mir Qasim angry and he soon became unfriendly and uncooperative. As a result the Company's troop engaged Nawab;s forces at the Battle of Buxar 1764.
It affected the Indian ruler in way that a misunderstanding was created between him and the Company which led to the chaos.
