  • It is the process of intake of air into the lungs.

  • Diaphragm relaxes and turns dome-shaped by moving up.
  • Internal intercostal muscles relax and external costal muscles contract.
  • Internal intercostal muscles contract and external intercostal muscles relax.
  • The volume of the lungs increases.
  • The volume of the lungs decreases.
  • Size of chest cavity increases.
  • Size of chest cavity decreases.
