The Indian Constitution has granted the Right to justice and equality to all the citizens of the country. According to the Constitution, no person can be indiscriminated on the basis of caste, religion, class or gender. All people are equal before law. It is in keeping with the above principle that Article 17 of our Constitution has abolished untouchability.
It is important for all people to be equal because the country cannot progress in absence of equality. The principle of equality not only develops the personality and self esteem of an individual but it also ensures the overall growth of an individual. This in turn benefit the nation.
