Cartographic signs and symbols on maps help us to understand the topography of land, the green cover or other features such as average elevation of land, average temperatures, relative distance etc.
These signs and symbols enrich the information available on map, which are used by geographers, researchers etc. Without this information, it would be a plain map which cannot be used for relative purposes by the user.
