Petroleum is a mixture of various constituents such as petroleum gas, petrol, diesel, lubricating oil, paraffin wax, etc.
The process of separating the various constituents or fractions of petroleum is known as refining.
Uses of Petroleum:
i. Petroleum gas - Fuel for home and industry.
ii. Petrol - Fuel for running vehicles such as cars, scooters, etc., aviation fuel and solvent for dry cleaning.
iii. Kerosene - Fuel for stoves, lamps and aviation fuel in jet aeroplanes.
