Meridian of longitude: A given line of reference running from the north pole to the south pole is refered as meridians of longitudes. The distances between them are measured in degrees of longitudes. Each degree is further divided into minutes and mjnutes into seconds. Parallels of lattitudes: The equator is an imaginary circular line. It is aa very important reference point to locate the places on the earth. All parallel circles from the circles from equator to the poles are called parallels of lattitude. Lattitudes are measured in degrees.
