The judiciary (also known as the judicial system or court system) is the system of courts that interprets and applies the law in the name of the state. The judiciary also provides a mechanism for the resolution of disputes..
Judiciary is important as it performs several interpretative functions like a settlement of disputes, judicial precedents, and protection of Fundamental Rights and enforces rule of law. One of the major functions of the judiciary is to interpret and apply laws to specific cases. Every law needs a proper interpretation for getting applied to every specific case. This function is performed by the judges.
