Pasteurization is method of increasing the storage period of milk etc. It was discovered by Louis Pasteur in the year 1880. It was pasteurization after his name. In this milk is treated at a temperature usually less than 100 degree Celsius (212 degree F) for almost 10 to 20 seconds. Then stored or chilled. This process prevents increase of microorganisms causing spoilage or damage to the milk. It is also mentioned on the packaged milk which we are getting in the market whether it is pasteurized not. -hope it helps you?

Pasteurisation is one type of food preservation method. Pasteurisation is the process developed by Louis Pasteur, especially to store milk. In pasteurisation, milk is first heated to about 70 degrees Celsius for 15 to 30 seconds. Then it is suddenly chilled and stored. This prevents the growth of microbes. Pasteurisation deactivates the microbes and reduces the enzyme activity by reduction of temperature.
