A fabric means cloth which is made by weaving or knitting long, twisted threads called yarn made from fibres. Fibres can be divided into two groups – natural fibres and synthetic fibres. Natural fibres are fibres obtained from plants and animals. Example – cotton, flax and jute comes from plants whereas wool and silk are obtained from animals. The synthetic fibres are the fibres made by human beings. Example – rayon, nylon, polyester and acrylic.
