Constitutional safeguards provided by US Constitution in the 4th, 5th and 6th amendments in regards to the criminal justice system are implemented to protect people against the indiscriminate application of criminal laws and wanton treatment of persons suspected of violating the law. Fundamental Rights, among others, ensure equality before the law and equal protection of the law; prohibits discrimination against any citizen on grounds of religion, race, caste, *** or place of birth, and guarantee equality of opportunity to all citizens in matters relating to employment.
