Longitude is a geographic coordinate that specifies the east-west position of a point on the Earth's surface, or the surface of a celestial body. It is an angular measurement, usually expressed in degrees. Longitudes are the angular distance from the Prime Meridian. Lines joining the North Pole and the South Pole are called the lines of longitude. Longitudes help us in calculating time and locating the place as well. The earth has been divided into 360 longitudes. The standard time is also based on longitude.
