The main features of Permanent Settlement are as follows:

  1. Rajas and taluqdars were recognised as zamindars, who were asked to collect rent from the peasants and pay revenue to the company.
  2. The amount to be paid was fixed.
  3. The revenue that had been fixed was so high that the zamindars found it difficult to pay.
  4. This would ensure a regular flow of revenue into the company’s coffers and at the same time encourage the zamindars to invest in improving the land.

Following were the main features of the Permanent Settlement:
(a)The rajas and taluqdars were recognised as zamindars.
(b)They were responsible for collecting revenue from peasants and paying to the Company.
(c)Revenue demand was permanently fixed.
