The solar system, assemblage consisting of the Sun—an average star in the Milky Way Galaxy—and those bodies orbiting around it. It includes the satellites of the planets; numerous comets, asteroids, and meteoroids; and the interplanetary medium. The solar system consists of the sun and eight planets held by gravity which revolve around the sun. The Sun is a star which is the centre of the solar system and all other heavenly bodies, either major or minor, revolve around it. There are eight planets in the solar system—Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.
