What effect does an electric current produce when flowing through a conducting liquid(or conducting solution)

When an electric current flows through the conducting solution, it causes a chemical reaction (or chemical change). Conduction of liquids depends on the ability of liquids to form ions. Some liquids such as oil or alcohol do not form ions and do not conduct electricity. The acetic acid separates into ions in water. So its solution conducts electricity. Most liquids that conduct electricity are solutions of acids, bases and salts. The passage of an electric current through a conducting liquid causes chemical reactions. The resulting effects are called chemical effects of currents.
