First you have to choose whether you want a relative date or a date range.
Relative range allow you to construct a conditional statement such items modified less than five days in the past while date range will allow you to specify an exact range of dates.Date range is important when you want to create a collection with a static date and wont change.The relative date can be very useful when as it will allow you to create collections that are automatically updating themselves.
