Microorganisms like bacteria are single cellular whereas some algae and fungi are multicellular. They are found in all types of habitats. They can live and survive in almost all kinds of environment like hot springs, ice-cold waters, saline water, desert soil or marshy land. Microorganisms can be present inside the human body or that of animals as parasites.
If we take a few drops of pond water on a slide and observe under a microscope, we can see many tiny organisms moving around. Microorganisms are also found in the soil. If we take a moist soil sample and add water to it and let it settle down for some time, and observe a drop of water from the beaker under a microscope, we see microorganisms moving around.
