Jumman and Algu were great friends and deeply respected each-other. They cared for each other and were so close that when one of them was out of the village because of some reason, the other dutifully took the charge of looking after that person's family. They had years of loyal friendship which had made them each-others confidant. However, an incident did almost ruin their relationship. The matter of Jumman's aunt in the Panchayat led to the creation of a fissure in their friendship. Jumman was so sure of Algu's loyalty to him that he felt that the decision would be in his favour with Algu as the Panch even if he was in the wrong. When the opposite happened, he felt betrayed. However, later on he realised what duty Algu was committed to as the Panch when he came to experience the power of that position himself. All the misunderstandings were removed and the two resumed their beautiful friendship as before.
