No, this stateent is not true, because respiration means the use of oxygen and rrelease of carbon dioxide. this occurs in unicelllular organisms by the diffusion of both gases across the cell membrane or plasma membrane
thhe difference is that most higher multicellular organisms posses a complex systvem for respiration and breathing, while unicellular and simple multiclllular organisms exchange the gases through their body wall
