Reuse means using the same things again. The plastic jars in which we buy various food items such as jams, pickles, oils, ghee, etc. can be used later on for storing things like salt, spices, sugar, tea-leaves, etc. Example - A diary can be made from old invitation cards. Mats can be made from old clothes.

Plastics are non-biodegradable. They do not rot when buried in soil. Only some types of plastics can be recycled. Burning of plastics produces extremely harmful gases.

The steps that can be taken to minimise the overuse of plastics are:

  1. We should reuse the plastic carry bags for shopping purposes.
  2. We should carry our own cloth bag or jute bag to cut down the number of plastic bags used.
  3. We should not store eatables in plastic bags.
  4. We should never burn plastic bags or any other plastic items.
  5. We should paper bags wherever possible.
  6. We should reuse the plastic containers which comes jams, pickles, oils and other packed foods for storing salt, spices, tea-leaves, etc. in the kitchen.
