The historians used the following evidence to find out about trade and trade route --> Literary works like sangam are used to evidence about ports like Puhar --> they also tell us about items off tread like pepper, sandalwood, corals etc. -->the evidence like northern black ware give information about the type of pottery used and the places to which it was trated. -->Roman poems class their Roman pottery and beads which have been found in South India are approved of the trade relations between India and the Roman empire. -->accounts of Chinese pilgrims also tell us about trade and trade routes.
