Soil nutrient management is essential for sustainable biomass production and for maintaining soil quality. Organic manure increased soil pH, the concentrations of nitrogen, phosphorus, and major cations. The growth of yellow poplars by organic manure treatment is comparable to that of NPK fertilizer treatment. Organic fertilizer improves the soil by escalating the soil's ability to hold water and nutrients and decreases the erosion and soil crusting caused by rain and wind. Using organic fertilizer adds more natural nutrients, feeds important microbes in the soil and improves the structure of the soil.
