  1. Rapid combustion: The combustion reaction in which a large amount of heat and light are produced in a short time is called rapid combustion. The immediate burning of cooking gas (LPG) in a gas stove to give heat and light is an example of rapid combustion.
  2. Spontaneous combustion: The type of combustion in which a material suddenly bursts into flames, without the application of any apparent cause is called spontaneous combustion. The spontaneous combustion reactions which take place in nature are very dangerous. Forest fires can be started by spontaneous combustion reaction.
