The name comes from the term "Silicon Valley" which is a region in California near San Francisco. Silicon Valley is the hub of the information technology industry in USA. The points of comparison between the two regions are

1. Both regions have pleasant weather. The temperature remains pleasant throughout the year.
2. Both regions have excellent educational institutions which produced highly qualified engineers and technologists to work in the IT industry.
3. Both regions are the home of many of the leading companies in information technology. 
4. Both the regions are dynamic economic hubs of their respective countries. They provide jobs to many people in their countries.
