  • He accepted the Buddhism to save his large territory from foreign attack. For this he spreaded Buddhism outside of India.
  • Even he adopted policy of Dhamma, which was a way of life, a code of conduct and a set of principles to be adopted and practiced by the people at large.
  • Buddhism was his personal belief and Dhamma signifies a general code of conduct. So I can also conclude that to promote the policy of Dhamma he accepted Buddhism.
