Coke is a tough,porous and black substance. It is almost pure form of carbon. It is used in manufacture of steel and in the exatraction in many metals.????

Coke is obtained by burning of coal in absence of oxygen. The process is called destructive distillation.
Characteristics of coke:
i) Tough
ii) porous
iii) black in colour
USES:

Coke is used to manufacture steel.
Coke is used in the extraction of many metals.
