Metals r sonorous and non metals r hence non sonorous therefore doesn't prodices ringing sound . Therefore in temples bell is made up of metals because of the property they have i.e. sonority

Metals are known to be sonorous. That is they produce a sound when they are rung or hit with an object . Non-metal are not sonorous and don’t make a sound on being rung. Non-metals can be transparent .
