Deforestation takes away many trees.While trees atract rain.so if there are not enough trees so there will be less raining which is not sufficient for earth as well as living organisms .So if there will be notsufficient water on earth so it can causes desertifixation

If we cut down the trees obviously it will become like a desert and then it is called as desertification
