The dictionary definition of migratory bird is a bird that travels from one place to another at regular times often over long distances. ... Most native bird species (birds naturally occurring in the United States) belong to a protected family and are therefore protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. Most of our migrating birds fly to south for winter but for example dipper comes from north to overwinter here in Finland. For example hazel hen, magpie, black woodpecker and siberian jay are resident birds: they spend the winter in north. Crow is one of our partial migrants.
