    When the Indian clothes flourished in Europe and America the local traders of Europe asked the queen to ban the import of Indian clothes in Europe. So, the queen introduced a law by increasing the custom duty of goods imported from India and this act was called the calico act.

    Calico act took place to bann cotton textiles getting exported from India.Calico is a name of a very famous cotton. So the act got its name as Calico act.
