Due to the various policies introduced by the company; like doctrine of lapse,subsidiary alliance, removal of titles and pensions of indian rulers; many kings felt that britishers were trying to insult them. Rani lakshmibai, nana saheb were victims of doctrine of lapse, who were main leaders of revolt of 1857 at their centres. Wajid ali shah, the nabab of awadh, was accused of maladministration. This was main political reason of revolt of 1857.
