Antibiotics are produced industrially by a process of fermentation, where the source microorganism is grown in large containers (100,000 – 150,000 liters or more) containing a liquid growth medium. Once the process is complete, the antibiotic must be extracted and purified to a crystalline product. Antibiotics destroy 'good bacteria' and worsen oral infection. Summary: Researchers found that antibiotics actually kill the 'good' bacteria keeping infection and inflammation at bay. New research shows that the body's own microbes are effective in maintaining immune cells and killing certain oral infections.
