Slow combustion usually burns slowly , slow combustion is usually incomplete due unavailability of sufficient amount of oxygen required for combustion . And due less availability of oxygen they also release carbon monoxide .

because we all know that slow combustion generally occurs in insufficient supply of air. and when the material does'not get proper air it can't be burn completly . thus combustion is incomplete in slow combustion. thanks
