There should be a conscious effort to abandon untouchability because it denies those affected, the basic human rights. The so-called untouchables are not allowed to enter certain premises, mingle with higher caste people, not allowed to educate their children where children of other castes study, and are forced to do extremely menial jobs because they are even denied the right to chooses their profession.
All such factors deny the untouchables their basic human rights and dignity simply because they have been born in a certain caste. This is the extreme form of human inequality.
